Transfer Students

The application process at Santa Margarita Catholic is designed to be as simple as possible for the prospective parent. Please follow the steps below and your student's file will be complete in a timely and efficient manner. Transfer students, students currently at another high school and wishing to attend SMCHS, are accepted on a rolling basis until each class reaches capacity.

STEP 1:
Create an account and fill out the application form

The first step to becoming an Eagle is to complete an online application. This is done by creating an account and logging in to your personal admissions page. Once you are logged in, complete all steps of the application and click submit. There is a $60 non-refundable application fee that is paid for online.

STEP 2:
Request your Recommendation Letters

We ask that you request three confidential recommendation letters to be completed by your child's math teacher, English teacher and principal/school counselor. Recommendation letters may be requested by downloading the proper forms in your personal admissions page and delivering these forms to your teachers and principal to be completed. We recommend providing a stamped, addressed envelope for each of your recommendation letters. You may also request electronic recommendations via emails sent to your teachers and principal directly through your personal admissions page. If you select this second option, your teachers will receive the recommendation forms via email and send them directly to our school.

STEP 3:
Request transcripts, immunization record, and standardized testing results

To complete your child's application file, we ask that you take the "records release form" to your child's current school. This form allows you to provide authorization to your current school to send us your child's high school transcript, immunization record and standardized testing results. Your child's current school will then send these three documents directly to us (Attn: Admissions Office). Please make this request after the first grading period of your current school year so that we may see the first set of grades from the current school year.

STEP 4:
Catholic Parish Verification Form

If your family is registered at a Catholic parish, please download the verification form either from your personal admissions page or at the link below. Please submit this form to your parish pastor. Your pastor will complete the form and send it directly to our Admissions Office. Families that are registered and active at a Catholic parish are eligible for the Catholic tuition rate.

STEP 5:
Student Essay

Student Essay for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students transfering from another high school only:
Please have your student fill out the essay below and deliver it to the Admissions Office as soon as possible.

STEP 6:
Acceptance Verification

Once your application is complete, the members of the Admissions Committee at SMCHS will review your application for an acceptance decision that will be mailed to you. In the meantime, you may check on the status of your child's application by logging into your personal admissions page. Upon acceptance, registration information will then be forthcoming.
