Santa Margarita Catholic High School

Week of Giving 2016

Varsity Boys Return from Hawaii

The Eagles returned to Santa Margarita early Friday morning, January 4th after a successful road trip to the island of Oahu, Hawaii.

New Year's Eve, the Eagles played No. 2 ranked, Kalani Falcons in Honolulu to a 2-0 win. Goals from Ben Draheim and Cade Kearn with assists by Erik Harris and Kyle Heller rounded out the scoring. Chandler Kirby was solid in goal with 3 saves. The Falcon parents treated the boys to a Hawaiian lunch after the match.

January 2, the Eagles played 18 time state champion, Punahou Varsity. Eagle goals were provided by Kyle Heller and Sean Goode with assists by Noah Leong and Erik Harris. The score ended with a win for SMCHS 2-1.

The boy’s final game was against current State Champion, Mililani Trojans. On Thursday, January 3rd, the team traveled north of Honolulu to Mililani Town. Once again the score ended in the Eagles favor, 2-0 with goals from Sean Goode, and Toren Berry. Assists came from Noah Loang and Brenden Hickey.
Mililani were generous hosts, providing a large pot-luck dinner after the game before the team boarded the flight home.

In addition to great soccer action, the boys attended a Luau, visited Pearl Harbor where they met a Pearl Harbor survivor and had a day of snorkeling. The boys arrived back in California in time to play the first Trinity League match against Mater Dei on Saturday, January 5th.
