All current 8th grade students who have submitted applications for the 2017-2018 school year and have turned in their $60 application fees are automatically registered to take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) on Saturday, January 28, 2017.
The test begins at 8 am and will be done by 12:30 pm. We will be accepting applications and the application fees on the morning of January 28th. Please arrive for check-in at the front of the school (off of Antonio Parkway) no later than 7:45 am so that the exam may start on time.
All testing materials will be supplied, including a snack. No calculators are allowed. The exam is made up of 5 multiple choice sections (3 language arts and 2 mathematics) plus a written essay. The results of the exam are used to help place students into their freshman math, science, and English classes.
Students with a current IEP or a documented learning challenge are eligible for extended testing time. For more information, please contact our Auxiliary Studies Office at 949-766-6000, ext. 1085.

HIGH SCHOOL PLACEMENT TEST REVIEW COURSE
Santa Margarita Catholic High School is offering a preparation seminar for the upcoming High School Placement Test (HSPT).
In addition to reviewing the English and Math components of the exam, the course will give students a better understanding of the following:
- How to approach a standardized test.
- How to work through a question most logically.
- How to avoid being sidetracked by tricky questions.
- Review of basic concepts and principles.
