SMCHS Eagles Aquatic Center Home of 108 All-Americans and 4 Olympic Trials Qualifiers
SMCHS opened its newest facility on its 42-acre campus on September 28, 2007. The eight-month construction project was much anticipated by all in the SM Community. The new Aquatic Center boasts a 755,550 gallon, 50-meter by 25-yard (18 lanes) competition pool, stadium seating for 450 spectators, state-of-the-art timing and scoreboard systems, office space for team rooms, and a concession area. The SMCHS Aquatic Center has already hosted high school, club, national and international Water Polo and Swimming events.
The first competition in the new pool took place on Friday, October 5, 2007. The Boys Water Polo team was victorious in their first home match. The Aquatic Center is also home for the following SMCHS teams: Girls Water Polo, Boys & Girls Swimming and SMCHS Diving.
The Aquatic Center was officially blessed by the Bishop of Orange, Tod D. Brown on Sunday, October 14th. In his blessing, Bishop Brown proclaimed, “May the waters of this pool always remind us of the bounty and goodness with which God provides for His people.”
