IB Sail

Mark Twain once said, “Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do, than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.”

The IB Programme invites you to join us September 21 through 24 2017 for an adventure on the high seas. We will sail the Dana Point Ocean Institute’s 118 foot long tall ship Spirit of Dana Point to Catalina Island and back. Learn how to sail a tall ship, enjoy kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, an island BBQ and more.

Permission forms (SMCHS and Ocean Institute) are required and available on the SMCHS IB web site. Completed, signed permission forms (SMCHS and Ocean Institute) and payment of fee is required to reserve a berth on the ship. Berths are limited – reserve yours today! Registration for the September 2017 sail will take place June 2, 2017 through June 22, 2017 on a first come, first serve basis. Paperwork and fee (check or cash) must be submitted in person to the IB Office in order to reserve a berth. Carefully check your personal calendar as the fee is non-refundable once submitted.

The IB Sail Adventure 2017 is an optional activity open to all IB candidates and serves as a CAS activity for Full Diploma candidates.
