RETURNING BOOKS

Library books are to be returned to the Circulation Desk, handed to a Librarian, or returned to the book drop - available 24-hours-a-day (by the Faculty/Staff entrance door facing Crean Hall).

OVERDUE BOOKS AND FINES

The due date is indicated on the receipt given to the patron when an item is checked out. The receipt is the Library's official notice to the Student that the book will be due on the posted date.   Students are responsible for the return or renewal of the book on or before the due date.

The Library will send an overdue notice after a book is due. If the book is not returned within seven days, a second notice will be mailed to the student's home. A third notice will be sent if necessary. In accordance with the Parent Student Handbook (p. 19): "If, after three notices, students have not responded, a "Disciplinary Referral" will be issued through the Dean's Office." Notices will be mailed to the address supplied to the Library by the school's Registrar.  Due to the fact that the "Due Date" is given  when an item is checked out, failure to receive notices does not affect requests for payment of a lost books. At this time, Santa Margarita Catholic High School is not charging overdue fines.
