Day of Testing:
Students who already registered for the ACT test, should report to the SMCHS campus at 7:45 a.m.  They do not need to check in with the ACT Coordinator unless their name doesn't appear on the roster displayed on the whiteboard positioned in the check-in area.  Students should bring an admission ticket, sharpened pencils, eraser, driver's license and/or student picture ID.

What to bring?

Students may register to take the ACTs via the testing center website by clicking here. They will be issued an Admission Ticket.  On testing day, students should bring with them:
  1. Admission Ticket for taking ACTs
  2. California Driver's License
  3. School picture ID (or letter with stamped school seal)

Scores:
ACT will directly mail all test scores to the student and/or any designated schools/colleges/universities.

Standbys:

Students who need to register to take the ACT test on the day of testing are considered "Standby."  SMCHS usually has a number of "seats" available for these students.  Our procedure is to have students show up at 7:30 a.m. on the day of testing.  Each student should meet with the Testing Coordinator and sign in.  They should bring:
  1. a completed ACT I or ACT II registration form,
  2. a completed registration form and check made out to ACT testing
Put the registration form and the check in the ACT mailing envelope and give to the ACT Coordinator upon check-in.  Providing there is a seat available, standby students will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Fees for taking tests:

When registering standby, students are to provide a check in the mailing envelope along with their ACT registration form.  If the amount on the check is incorrect, ACT will bill the student directly.  No scores will be released by ACT until the fees have been paid in full.  SMCHS is not responsible for verifying the fees paid by the student on testing day.

Changing the test center location and/or test type:

Occasionally, a student may need to change their testing location and/or change the test they need to take (from ACT Writing to ACT No-Writing or from ACT No-writing to ACT Writing).  Students should show up on testing day at the school in which they want to take the test.  Provide this change information to the ACT Coordinator and the student will be reassigned as needed to the proper testing room.  Accommodations for testing will be made providing there is Standby room for the student.

Extended Time:
Some students have been pre-approved for extended time.  Those students must have registered by the ACT deadline and should be on the SMCHS attendance roster for test taking.  Students should check-in with the ACT Coordinator on the SMCHS campus so that they can be assigned to the correct classroom for testing.
