Athletic Training Office
Santa Margarita Catholic High School works with South County Orthopedic Specialists (SCOS).  Our team physicians are present at varsity football games and are available year round for office visits.
 
SCOS is able to set next day appointments for SMCHS student-athletes.  When calling for an appointment, be sure to identify yourself as a Santa Margarita Catholic High School athlete.
 
SCOS also participates in our annual physicals.

Scott Graham, M.D.
 
Dr. Graham is a native of Santa Barbara. After graduation from USC School of Medicine, he completed a residency in orthopedics at UC Irvine. During his residency, Dr. Graham worked at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic and as an assistant team physician with the Los Angeles Lakers and Anaheim Angels. He then traveled to the prestigious Cleveland Clinic for further training with a fellowship in Sports Medicine. He was a team physician and orthopedic consultant for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers and the WNBA’s Cleveland Rockers. He is currently a team physician for Santa Margarita High School, Laguna Hills High School and is Medical Director of Athletics for Concordia University. Dr. Graham practices general orthopedics with specialization in sports medicine injuries.
 
Larry Gersten, M.D., F.A.C.S. 
 
Dr. Gersten is from Lakewood, New Jersey. He attended Stanford University, graduating with a B. S. in Biology. He attended medical school at Jefferson Medical College and interned in General Surgery at Pennsylvania Hospital, both in Philadelphia. He returned to the West Coast for his residency at Los Angeles County, University of Southern California. He fellowship trained in total joint replacement and reconstructive surgery at Joint Implant Surgeons, Ohio State University. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Gersten practices general orthopedics with specialization in sports medicine and arthroscopy, arthritis and joint replacement surgery. He is team physician for Santa Margarita High School. Dr. Gersten came to the Saddleback community in 1988.
 
Lance Wrobel, M.D., F.A.C.S.
 
Dr. Wrobel hails from the Windy City. After undergraduate studies at Loyola University, Chicago, he completed his medical school education at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. After interning at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, he and his family moved to California. He completed his residency in Orthopedics at the U.S. Naval Hospital, San Diego. Thereafter, he served at the Naval Hospital in Long Beach where he was Asst. Chief of Orthopedics. While in the Navy, he served as Chief Physician and Surgeon for COMDESRON 31 in the Western Pacific where his duties required worldwide travel. He began his private practice in the Saddleback community in 1977. He has served in various capacities at Mission Regional and Saddleback Memorial Medical Centers including Chief of Orthopedics at Saddleback. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery; a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Arthroscopic Association of North America; and a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners. He practices general orthopedics with special interest in sports medicine and arthroscopy, arthritis and joint replacement surgery. He has been team physician and orthopedic consultant for Dana Hills H.S. He has served in this capacity for Santa Margarita High School since its inception in 1987.
