Freshman Information
Welcome to Santa Margarita Catholic High School! We look forward to meeting all of the students in the Class of 2015. Please use this Web site to learn about important dates and activities that will take place prior to your first day at Santa Margarita.

The Counseling Office is available to assist students in many ways. As freshmen, each student is assigned to Freshman Counselor Wende Borowski who specializes in working with freshmen as they acclimate to high school life. SMCHS is proud to offer the Link Crew program, a nationally-recognized freshman transition program that works to welcome freshmen and ease the leap into high school both academically and socially. Built on the belief that students can help other students succeed, Link Crew places freshmen into groups of ten and pairs them with a trained Link Crew leader, either a junior or senior. The program kicks off with a high-energy orientation that includes interactive games and continues during the year with regular activities and school-sponsored social events between the freshman and their Link leaders.

Upon the completion of freshman year, students will be assigned to a new counselor by alphabet for the remaining three years. Students will have the opportunity to develop an ongoing relationship with someone who will understand their personal needs. Freshmen meet both the freshman counselor and the 10th-12th grade counselors at the Incoming Freshmen Scheduling Night each year. Incoming freshmen can contact their counselor during the summer to answer questions regarding academic planning and to begin establishing goals for college admission. Mrs. Wende Borowski can be reached at borowskiw@smhs.org or 949.766.6010
