SUCCESS STORIES

Johnny Stanton
Class of 2012

Taking a full load of honors courses and playing two varsity sports isn't easy, but sophomore Johnny Stanton is successful both on the field and in the classroom.

The fall 2010 semester Johnny earned over a 4.0 GPA while having a stellar season as the sophomore backup quarterback. Johnny helped his team rally from a 20-0 deficit to defeat St. John Bosco in a 42-41 in an overtime victory. The win was the largest comeback in school history. Johnny came in at the third quarter for an injured Adam Young throwing for two touchdown passes and running for one.

"It was indescribable, the highlight of my sports career," Johnny said.

While Johnny hopes to play professional ball – he's just as focused on academics as he is athletics.

"It's all about good time management," Johnny says. "It isn't easy, but my teachers have been a huge help always making themselves available. At Santa Margarita, I am constantly being challenged which will help prepare me for college. It's the perfect blend of academics and athletics."
