Cheer Earns Back-to-Back CIF-SS Titles
Cheer Earns Back-to-Back CIF-SS Titles
Over the weekend, our varsity cheer team won the CIF-SS D1AA traditional competitive cheer title for the second year in a row. Their traditional cheer routine is undefeated in four competitions so far this season.
Head coach Dana Maas ’92 says that this victory is a testament to the talent and passion that each of her athletes brings to the mat.
“Personally, it’s incredibly rewarding to see all the hard work, dedication, and passion of our team, coaches, and families. Many sacrifices are made in our year-round sport,” Maas said. “Winning back-to-back titles is a huge achievement, but it’s more than just the victory itself—it’s a reflection of the growth, resilience, and unity we’ve built as a team.”
Maas added that this win further solidifies SM’s place as a powerhouse in the cheer world, and she attributes this to their shared faith and gratitude.
“We give all the glory to God for the talents, strength, and opportunities He’s blessed us with along the way. It’s been an unforgettable ride, and we’re just getting started!” Maas said.
Four-year varsity member and captain Dotty Laster ’25 says she feels grateful for the opportunity to leave a legacy with her teammates this season.
“This has been the best season of my four years on SM cheer. Not only have we been successful in our competition season, but our team is so close and has the best bond,” Laster said. “We’ve faced our share of challenges, but we are always able to move past them and be better. This CIF win was the perfect way to build confidence as we head to Florida for Nationals next week.”
Congratulations, cheer! We wish you the best as you head to UCA Nationals next week. Go Eagles!
