MUN Embarks on Cultural Exchange and Global Leadership Journey at Conference

A select group of students from Santa Margarita Catholic High School recently embarked on an enriching educational expedition to Vienna, Austria, Prague and the Czech Republic to participate in the 17th annual Prague Model United Nations (PRAMUN) conference. The journey began in Vienna, where students immersed themselves in the city's rich cultural heritage. Highlights included attending Mass at St. Stephen's Cathedral, exploring Vienna's renowned café culture, touring the historic Hofburg and Schönbrunn Palaces, participating in a hands-on chocolatier workshop, and engaging in an informative tour of the United Nations headquarters in Vienna.

Following their Viennese experience, the group traveled to Prague, with an insightful stop in Brno to visit the historical Bunker 10-Z. In Prague, SMCHS students were warmly welcomed by their peers from GJN. The itinerary featured a visit to Lidice to study the impacts of World War II, a guided exploration of Prague's architectural marvels, including the Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, and active participation in PRAMUN 2025.

PRAMUN, hosted by Gymnázium Jana Nerudy (GJN), is a prestigious international conference that brings together high school students from around the globe to simulate United Nations proceedings. Schools from thirteen different countries sent delegates to this MUN conference. The event offers a unique platform for delegates to engage in debates on pressing global issues, develop diplomatic skills and foster cross-cultural friendships. This year's conference was the largest to date, with over 500 participants.

GJN students are scheduled to visit California in September for the annual MUN conference hosted by SMCHS. This partnership enhances students' understanding of international relations and promotes personal growth through exposure to diverse cultures and perspectives.

SMCHS invites MUN families interested in hosting a GJN student during their September visit to contact Mr. Remmell. Participation is crucial to continue the enriching tradition of cultural and educational exchange.
