"Do we want to be monitors or mentors?"

Schoolyear 2024-25 began for faculty and staff with an all-day dialogue and training on AI.  Julie Smith, an acclaimed author, speaker, and Professor of Media Literacy at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, highlighted Generation Z's reality of navigating today's tech-powered world, the extraordinary rise and potential of AI, the pitfalls and imperfections of AI tools, and various ways we can begin to harness its power in education today.  The team enjoyed a hands-on "playground" session and engaged in department-wide conversations on AI's impact on teaching and learning.
