The season of giving is about joining together during the holiday season to serve the greater community and spread joy. It is a time when we focus on kindness, generosity and selflessness. The students, faculty and staff of Santa Margarita Catholic High School strive to live by Caritas Christi - the love of Christ. This Season of Giving commenced with the annual Thanksgiving Drive-Thru.
Thanksgiving Drive-Thru
During Thanksgiving break, over 140 SMCHS students, faculty and staff members partnered with Hanna’s Restaurant & Bar and participated in the third annual Thanksgiving meal drive-thru. This year, over 300 families received full Thanksgiving meals. Click here to watch the video.
Christmas Socks for CHOC
Eagles for CHOC is an SM health-related Humanitarian Club supporting teenage patients at Children's Hospital of Orange County in Mission Viejo. It is the oldest and largest active club on campus.
The club held its 12th Annual "Christmas Socks for CHOC" event last week. Students chose from over 100 pairs of Christmas socks and purchased pairs for $5 each. The profit was used to purchase Christmas gifts for teens hospitalized at CHOC.
Although CHOC receives many donations of toys and games during the holidays, the teen age group is often overlooked. The club consults with CHOC Child Life Specialists and donates crafts, games and small gifts for teens.
The organization provides a Christmas tree to families in need. A portion of the proceeds went toward ASB, Equestrian, Ice Hockey, E-Sports, Song, Dance Team, Boys' Beach Volleyball, Surf Team, Roller Hockey and Mock Trial.
ASB Christmas Tree Donations
SM families generously donated 30 trees to Catholic Charities of Orange County. Campus Ministry and ASB students delivered the trees to Catholic Charities. Families in need can receive a Christmas tree through the organization. A portion of the proceeds from the generous Christmas tree sales went toward ASB, Equestrian, Ice Hockey, E-Sports, Song, Dance Team, Boys Beach Volleyball, Surf Team, Roller Hockey, Mock Trial and Speech and Debate.
Adopt-a-Family
SM partnered with Dale Junior High to adopt families lightening the burden by providing gifts for families in need. SMCHS departments, programs, classes, clubs and teams generously adopted 46 families.

NEGU Santa Stroll
SM baseball participated in the NEGU (Never Ever Give Up) Santa Stroll on campus. Money was raised for Jessie's Joy Jars, which will be sent to children fighting cancer. The Jessie Rees Foundation supports kids fighting cancer and was inspired by Jessica Joy Rees, who lost her battle with cancer in 2012. She created Joy Jars and coined the term NEGU.
