SOCOMUN 2025 Inspires the Next Generation of Global Leaders

Santa Margarita Catholic High School welcomed over 1,600 student delegates from 30 schools to the 34th annual South Orange County Model United Nations Conference (SOCOMUN), making it the largest one-day Model UN event in the world. The day was filled with lively debate, collaboration and innovative solutions to global challenges.

Led by student Secretaries-General Charlie Tarazi '27 and Elena Murray '27, SOCOMUN 2025 embraced the theme, “Learning from the Past, Leading the Future.” Delegates tackled pressing international issues across 34 committees, which focused on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The conference had an international flavor, welcoming Gymnázium Jana Nerudy from Prague, Czech Republic, alongside schools from across Southern California. Delegates not only debated global issues but also built lasting friendships, strengthened their public speaking and negotiation skills and gained invaluable insight into diplomacy and international relations.

SOCOMUN 2025 was a day of energy, creativity, and inspiration, a reminder that today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders. Organizers, participants, and guests celebrated a successful conference that left everyone motivated to make a difference in their communities and around the world.
