Talon Theatre Duo Up for Best Actor and Actress at MACY Awards

Talon Theatre Duo Up for Best Actor and Actress at MACY Awards

Congratulations to Jasmine Ortiz '26 and Ryan Nouri '26 on their Spirit of the MACY Awards nominations for Best Actor and Best Actress for their powerhouse performances as Franklin Hart and Doralee Rhodes in 9 to 5!

This is an incredible honor — only our region's top high school musical theatre performers receive this recognition as nominees. Nouri and Ortiz will be featured in an exceptional performance at the MACY Awards alongside their fellow nominees, and the winners in each category will go on to represent our region at the prestigious Jimmy Awards in New York City.

Talon Theatre Celebrates 20 CAPPIES Award Nominations

Talon Theatre is thrilled to announce that we have received an incredible 20 nominations for the 2025 Orange County CAPPIES Awards, including Best Play for Little Women, Best Musical for 9 to 5, and Best Critic Team for the SMCHS Cappies Critic Team! This remarkable achievement honors our student artists and technicians' outstanding talent, dedication and creativity.

The CAPPIES (Critics and Awards Program for High School Theatre) is a prestigious program that brings together student critic teams across Orange County to review and celebrate excellence in high school theatre. These student critics attend productions, write published reviews, and vote on nominations based on the merit of student work. Their mission is to uplift and spotlight the incredible efforts of young theatre artists throughout the region.

This year, Talon Theatre’s Artistic Director, Ms. Kennedy Kemmerer, serves on the Steering Committee for the OCC CAPPIES Organization, further highlighting our program’s leadership in the local arts community.
