Eagles Wrestling Tames the Lions

Santa Margarita Catholic High School Wrestling earned a strong road victory on Tuesday night, 1/27/2026, defeating JSerra High School 34–16 in a hard-fought Trinity League dual.

The Eagles set the tone early at 113 pounds, where Oliver Mohamed secured a second-period fall over Liam Ledger, giving Santa Margarita early momentum. At 120 pounds, Finn Boisenranc battled tough but fell by decision to Luke Schrieber. Both teams recorded double forfeits in the 126–138 weight classes.

At 144 pounds, Ryan Romero competed in a close, competitive match, ultimately dropping a decision to Barrett Mills. Santa Margarita answered back in dominant fashion at 150 pounds, as Dean Johnson needed just 20 seconds in the 1st period to pin Connor Greene, energizing the Eagles’ bench.

One of the highlights of the night came at 157 pounds, where Hutton Steele and Brayden Castro put on an exciting match. Steele sealed the win in the third period with a reversal-to-pin combination. At 165 pounds, Sebastian Schnoll showed resilience after trailing early, rallying to earn a fall over Brody Church.

At 175 pounds, Bradley Mills earned a decision victory against Fletch Palmer, followed by a statement win at 190 pounds as top-ranked Finnian Hannegan recorded a fall over Kevin Chapman. At 215 pounds, Jason Perez added valuable team points with a major decision victory over Emmitt Rorabaugh.

The night concluded in dramatic fashion at heavyweight, where Hunter Grajeda avenged an earlier season loss by pinning Blake Garcia, sealing the Eagles’ 34–16 victory.

Santa Margarita now turns its focus to the final stretch of the season, with Trinity League Finals set to take place at Servite High School on Friday, February 6 for a chance to qualify for the CIF Individual Tournament.

Coach Nava said, “It’s time to focus on what matters—placing at Trinity, placing at CIF. February is when the Eagles soar.”
