Technical Director, Master Carpenter, Theatre Production Class Instructor

SMCHS is seeking a Technical Director, Master Carpenter, Theatre Production Class Instructor.

Duties include, but not limited to:

Basic function: Provide technical support for all Talon Theatre and Performing Arts productions and events. (Instrumental and Choir Concerts, Dance Concert, Christmas Production, Talon Theatre Fall Production and Spring Musical and ComedySportz Matches)

Collaborates with Theatre Manager, Facilities, Talon Theatre Director and Performing Arts Directors on technical direction for all productions and events.

Establish a fun, yet professional environment to encourage greater student participation.

Coordinates Production calendar to include all aspects of technical needs/schedules for a production.

Technical Training: Teach Theatre Production Class

Assist in selecting and supporting student designers and student production staff.

Attends all Production meetings, Paper Tech, and Tech Rehearsals and Milestone Rehearsals.

Responsible for shop safety and maintenance

Provides Technical support for IB Theatre class projects, Theatre, Musical Theatre, ComedySportz and Cabaret night.

Mentor student designers.

Maintain technical production budget.

Manage load in and load out of productions and events. May be required to drive a truck to pick up scenery, props and equipment.

Crew supervision and distribution of P.E. credit

Material, lumber ordering and equipment rental.

Responsible for set construction, painting, dressing, and installation.

Develop and oversee the after school technical theatre programs for TAPA

Attend/Chaperone State and International festival


Qualifications:  BA of BFA in Theatre Arts.  Knowledge of Basic Design Elements, Principles and Practices of audio and lighting both analogue and digital systems, construction practices, theatrical rigging, basic computer operations and skills, ability to read and interpret blue print drawings, estimate cost of labor and materials. CPR, Safety Training.
