All the Way from Rome: Cardinal Tagle Shares Message with the Eagle Community

Our very own Linley Ryan ’23 and her family were in Rome recently visiting her brother Sean ’19 who is currently studying at John Cabot University for the semester. While in Rome, they had the opportunity to meet with Linley and Sean's uncle, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, who serves as the Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples and is the President of Caritas International. Cardinal Tagle may be familiar to any student studying Catholic Social Teaching at SM, since he is regularly featured in the USCCB’s videos on CST and recently became one of 11 Cardinal Bishops.

The Ryan family asked Cardinal Tagle for a special message for the SM community, and he graciously obliged. The following is a special Easter message from Cardinal Tagle for the SM community, along with some words on our school’s charism, Caritas Christi!

During the family's visit, Sean Ryan ’19 was blessed and honored to be confirmed by his uncle, Cardinal Tagle, in one of the chapels at St. Peter’s Basilica.
