Runners need to replace their shoes often. As a member of Santa Margarita’s track team, Kendall Saeger ‘21 recognized the opportunity to turn her plethora of retired running shoes into opportunities. After researching her options, Saeger and a few of her friends held a successful shoe drive through Soles4Souls.
Soles4Souls is an organization that focuses on providing chances for people in need and safeguarding the environment. “Some of the shoes go directly to people who need shoes, while others go to people in developing countries who sell them to support themselves and their families. I thought it was cool how a pair of shoes can do so much,” said Saeger. The shoe drive received about 350 pairs of donated shoes. This year marks Saeger’s second year of holding a fortuitous Soles4Souls shoe drive.
“MUN (Model United Nations) was happy to help Kendall and the track team and support their Soles for Souls shoe drive. One of the United Nation’s Global Goals is an end to poverty.
"Kendall is an excellent example of a student-athlete trying to make a difference in the world and make it a better place," said John Remmell, Director of MUN.
