Mock Admissions Case Studies
Thursday, 3/16 from 6pm-8:00pm
RSVP Closed. Walk-Ins are Welcome!
One of the best college counseling events of the year! All 10th and 11th grade students and parents are invited to attend. Participants are placed in small "admissions committees" to review 3 candidates with a college admissions officer. As a group, you review all aspects of the application and determine how the candidates compare to the university profile in order to decide who should be admitted, denied, and wait-listed.
OVERVIEW:
- All participants should read the 3 sample college admissions applications prior to the event.
- The sample applications will be discussed in small groups led by a college admissions officer. As a group, you will decide which students will be accepted, denied, or deferred.
You will learn the following:
- What colleges look for in an applicant
- What colleges value academically and how a student spends their free time
- How difficult it is to choose between applicants
- How students can evaluate their own strengths, skills, and qualities they bring to the process and how to convey them on their college application
Prior to the event, please print or download the following files to your phone/laptop to use during the event.
