Course Requests for 2026-2027

Follow these steps

Step #1:

Students, please review the following links before submitting your course requests.

  4. Review videos for new and featured courses below ↴

Step #2:

Complete your grade level course requests either in Aeries (current 9th graders) or Microsoft Form (10th and 11th graders) - see links below. 

Course Requests are due by Friday, January 23rd, 2026.

Step #3:

Schedule a meeting with your School Counselor to review course requests, ask questions, and discuss options. To make an appointment, contact your School Counselor by email or Teams chat.

Please submit your course requests BEFORE meeting with your School Counselor.

Scheduling meetings with your School Counselor must take place by Friday, March 13th. Additional changes will be accepted through May 8th.

Please contact your School Counselor through Teams chat or email to arrange a scheduling meeting. Be sure to submit your course requests prior to meeting with your School Counselor. 

COURSE REQUEST TIMELINE

January 23

Initial course requests DUE by submitting the grade level form

Jan. 26 - March 13

Meet with your School Counselor to review course requests, ask questions, plan & discuss options.

May 8

Course requests for the 2026-2027 school year are FINAL

CHANGING CLASSES:

SMCHS does not have an open add/drop period. The only acceptable changes to a student’s schedule will be those initiated by the teacher, counselor or administrator.


CHANGING TEACHERS:

All students are assigned to teachers and periods by the computer. The computer balances all class sizes and assigns teachers to students in a random manner. To maintain proper class balance and fairness to all, requests for schedule changes will not be made to accommodate a teacher of their choice.

  4. Upper Math preferred (review options in course description book)

Science sequence:
  1. Concepts of Environmental Science
  2. Biology Living Earth
  3. Chemistry
  4. Upper Science preferred (review options in course description book)

Social Studies sequence:
  1. World History
  2. US History
  3. Government/Economics

World Language sequence:

2 years of the same world language required, 3+ years recommended for most colleges
