Dear potential Sponsor,
at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, SMbly Required and SMbld are more than robotics teams—they are vibrant communities where curiosity ignites, teamwork thrives, and innovation comes to life. Founded by driven students in 2009 and 2016, these programs were built from the ground up to give students in grades 9–12 powerful, hands-on experiences in STEM.
Each season brings an electrifying six-week sprint. Students from every grade level—young men and women alike—come together to design, build, and program competitive robots under real-world pressure and real deadlines. Competing as Teams #5805 and #3020, the students don’t just build robots—they bring bold ideas to life. Together, they produce two full-scale competition robots that face off at district, state and even world-level competitions.
Supported by a dedicated team of professional mentors, students immerse themselves in the full engineering experience: design thinking, CAD, metal fabrication, electronics, programming, and safety. Beyond the workshop, they step into leadership roles in fundraising, marketing, outreach, and program management, gaining invaluable collaboration and communication skills along the way.
This is more than a club it’s a launchpad, it’s a lifestyle. Students leave with confidence, resilience, creativity, and the ability to solve complex problems as a team. They don’t just learn how to compete, they learn how to lead, adapt, and succeed.
This is Robotics at SMCHS.
This is heart, hustle, and human ingenuity in motion.
