Incoming Freshmen

The application process at Santa Margarita Catholic is designed to be as simple as possible for the prospective parent. Please follow the steps below and your child's file will be complete in a timely and efficient manner.

Application Process

Create an account and fill out the application form

  • Create an account by logging in to your personal admissions page
  • Once you are logged in, complete all steps of the online application and click submit
  • There is a $60 non-refundable application fee that is paid through your personal admissions page once logged in
  • Payment of the application fee automatically signs up your student for the placement test on Jan. 27, 2018 from
    7:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.. The placement exam is only for incoming freshmen. If you missed the testing date or are applying after the test date has passed, please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@smhs.org or 949-766-6076.

Request your recommendation letters

We ask that you request three confidential recommendation letters to be completed by your child's math teacher, English teacher and principal/school counselor. Recommendation letters can be requested electronically via the application portal in Step 1 above. Your teachers will receive the recommendation forms via email and they can send them directly to our school. Recommendation letters may also be requested by downloading the proper forms below and delivering to your teachers and principal with a stamped, addressed envelope for each recommendation letter.

Request transcripts, immunization record
and standardized testing results

To complete your child's application file, we ask that you take the "records release form" to your child's current school. This form allows you to provide authorization to your current school to send us your child's 7th and 8th grade transcripts, immunization record and standardized testing results. Your child's current school will then send these three documents directly to us (Attn: Admissions Office). Please make this request after the first grading period of 8th grade so that we may see the first set of grades from the current school year.

Catholic parish verification form

If your family is registered at a Catholic parish, please download the verification form either from your personal admissions page or at the link below. Please submit this form to your parish pastor. Your pastor will complete the form and send it directly to our Admissions Office. Families that are registered and active at a Catholic parish are eligible for the Catholic tuition rate.

Acceptance notification

Once the results of the HSPT Placement test are received and all files are complete, the Admissions Committee at SMCHS will then review all completed applications for acceptance decisions that will be mailed to you. In the meantime, you may check on the status of your child's application by logging into your personal admissions page. Upon acceptance, registration information will then be forthcoming.
