Transfer Students

The application process at Santa Margarita Catholic is designed to be as simple as possible for the prospective parent. Please follow the steps below and your student's file will be complete in a timely and efficient manner. Transfer students, students currently at another high school and wishing to attend SMCHS, are accepted on a rolling basis until each class reaches capacity.

STEP 1:
Create an account and fill out the application form

To create your personal admissions page and apply online, please click here.

Once you are logged in, complete all steps of the application and click submit. There is a $60 non-refundable application fee that is paid for online.


STEP 2:
Transfer Students Wishing to Play a CIF Sport at SMCHS

Transfer students interested in participating in a CIF sport or Cheer at SMCHS are asked to download, print, and complete the Athletic Transfer Worksheet. Send completed form to the Admissions Office with all other application forms.

STEP 3:
Request your Recommendation Letters

We ask that you request three confidential recommendation letters to be completed by your child's Math Teacher, English Teacher and Principal/School Counselor. Please log into your Application Portal found in Step #1 (or click on Parent Portal here) and electronically request recommendations from your child's Math Teacher, English Teacher, and Principal/Counselor. Your teachers will then directly upload their recommendations into your portal.

STEP 4:
Request transcripts, immunization record, and standardized testing results

Go to the Application Portal found in Step #1 or click here and electronically request your child's high school Transcripts, Standardized Testing, and Immunization record. Your current school will then directly upload their documents into your portal. If you have these documents in your possession, you may directly upload them into your portal.

STEP 5:
Catholic Parish Verification Form

If your family is registered at a Catholic parish, please download the verification form either from your personal admissions page or at the link below. Please submit this form to your parish pastor. Your pastor will complete the form and send it directly to our Admissions Office. Families that are registered and active at a Catholic parish are eligible for the Catholic tuition rate.

STEP 6:
Student Essay

Student Essay for 10th, 11th and 12th grade students transfering from another high school only:
Please have your student fill out the essay below and deliver it to the Admissions Office as soon as possible.

STEP 7:
Acceptance Verification

Once your application is complete, the members of the Admissions Committee at SMCHS will review your application for an acceptance decision that will be mailed to you. In the meantime, you may check on the status of your child's application by logging into your personal admissions page. Upon acceptance, registration information will then be forthcoming.
