Admissions Requirements

International Student Classification

For admissions application purposes, a student will be classified as an International Student if they meet any of the following criteria:

1. U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders)

Students who hold lawful permanent resident status (Green Card).

2. Students Who Hold or Require a Visa to Attend School in the United States

This includes students who are not U.S. citizens and require a visa classification that permits full-time enrollment in a U.S. school.

3. U.S. Citizens Educated Abroad

U.S. citizens who have not completed the previous three (3) consecutive academic years in a U.S.-based school immediately prior to applying.


Additional Notes

  • Classification as an International Student may impact required documentation, English proficiency verification, and tuition structure.

  • Families unsure of their status are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office for clarification before submitting an application.

  • Students who enroll at SMCHS through the International Admissions Department, will maintain their status as an "International Student" for the duration of their tenure. International tuition and fees will apply for all years of enrollment.

  • The deadline for obtaining US Citizenship for consideration regarding Admissions for Fall 2026 is November 15, 2025.

Step 1


Online Application

The first step to applying to Santa Margarita Catholic High School is to complete an online application. This is done by creating an account and logging in to your Personal Admissions Page.

Step 2


Interviews and Examinations

Once the application is complete and reviewed by our Admissions Committee, an interview and English Language Assessment will be scheduled by the International Student Admissions Director.
