TALON THEATRE’S THE MUSIC MAN NAMED ONE OF TOP 10 MUSICALS
AT 53RD ANNUAL SPIRIT OF THE MACY AWARDS

The Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts was the setting for a special Mother’s Day celebration on Sunday, May 14th as hundreds of students from high schools around Orange County gathered for the 53rd Annual MACY Awards show. Santa Margarita was well represented by the over fifty members of the cast, crew, staff and parents of THE MUSIC MAN. Selected as one of only ten shows to perform, Talon Theatre students presented a medley from THE MUSIC MAN that included the songs “Iowa Stubborn” and “Trouble.” The crisp, polished performance  by the cast, dressed in sharp black, red and white show shirts was highlighted by Ethan Diaz as Harold Hill moving with ease around the stage . The performance brought thunderous applause by the sold-out audience.
Throughout the day, Talon Theatre cast and crew members were recognized with a total of 30  individual MACY Awards, including BEST LARGE ENSEMBLE and a  SCHOLARSHIP awarded to Sarah Clarke. The day culminated with THE MUSIC MAN receiving THE SPIRIT OF THE MACY AWARD for being one of the top 10 musicals of the year.
Talon Theatre Director, Amy Luskey-Barth, was honored by the SPIRIT OF THE MACY Committee with a special plaque recognizing  her retirement after 35 years in educational theatre as her students chanted “Mrs. Barth. Mrs. Barth.” 
The award-winning cast and crew members for THE MUSIC MAN each received medallions for their individual and group performance.  The award-winners include:
BRIGHT SPOT: Naomi Clarke as Amaryllis, Henry Mellow as Charlie Cowell, Kate Ekezian, Jillian Mooney, Kate Mulvihill, Libby Rue as Teen Dancers, Nathan Harter as Winthrop.
SPECIAL RECOGNITION: For The Pick-a-Little Ladies Charlie Goubran, Madalyn Plush, Helen Reginato, Anna Sprague, Lucy Stiles, Caroline Thompson, Jorja Garrett, Reaghan Genest.
The barbershop quartet Octi Roges, Jack Shoemaker, Armon Alemzadeh and Robbie Troyan.
ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS: Tyler Von der Ahe as Marcellus, Landon Borowski as Mayor Shinn, Jeremy Ahn as Tommy Djilas, Brianna Velez as  Zaneeta and Sophie Pennell as Mrs. Paroo.
STAGECRAFT AWARD: for Hair and Makeup Ava Miller.
HIGHEST ACHIEVEMENT: Raelyn Spooner as Eulalie, Delaney Giraudi as Marian Paroo and Ethan Diaz as Harold Hill.
Several students were nominated for “Best” Actors including Comedic Actress, Raelyn Spooner, Lead Actress, Delaney Giraudi and Best Lead Actor, Ethan Diaz.
A jubilant cast, crew, staff including Sabrina Boyd, Assistant Director, Chris Winn, Musical Director, Holly Nellesen, Wardrobe Supervisor, Daniel Berkman, Adult Cast Member, and dozens of parents celebrated and captured the moment in photos and videos.

The MUSIC MAN was directed by Amy Luskey-Barth and Sabrina Boyd, Musical Direction by Chris Winn, Choreography by Frankie Marrone, Sound Design by Mike Ritchey, Light Design by Ed Huber, Set Design  and Technical Direction by David Tehero, Costumes by Sarah Atia and Holly Nellesen and Production Management by Annette Melosini.

Talon Theatre's "Phantom" Recieves Two Cappies!

Talon Theatre’s Phantom received two Cappies at the 16th annual Cappies Critic Award Gala held at the National Grove of Anaheim on Sunday, June 2. Senior Kathryn Flores won Best Female Vocalist for her role as Christine Daee, and senior Emma Smith won Best Female Dancer for her role as Belladova.

Talon Theatre's Phantom Named One of Macy's Best Shows of the Year

The 49th annual Spirit of the MACY Awards Show was held at Segerstrom Center for the Arts on Monday, April 29. The MACY board judged forty-six schools and fifty-five musical productions. Talon Theatre’s Phantom was named one of the top ten shows of the year, earning The Spirit of the Macy Award.

SPRING PRODUCTION
"West Side Story" - April 2018

The Talon Theatre dazzled audiences with their award winning performance of West Side Story, the musical about overcoming fear and prejudice and how two people, Tony and Maria, "Choose Love" over hate despite cultural differences. This classic Jerome Robbins, Leonard Bernstein masterpiece is based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and boasts one of the most beautiful scores in musical theater including songs such as “Tonight,” “Maria” and “Somewhere.”
