This course introduces students to the art, language, business and career concepts of and about the international motion picture industry. Students are required to learn the process of how a film is made from idea to seeing the idea on the silver screen. The students are taught to “read” a film, analyzing its structure, genre, technical and artistic factors and purpose. Students study the wide variety of careers required to make films and support the motion picture industry. Lastly, students learn how to view film, talk about film, write about film, critique films and research film. Also, with film viewing, students analyze film, research topics on specific areas of the motion picture industry, write original short scripts, create a short film of their own and do the necessary preparation to make a million-dollar feature film.
