DRAWING

This is an intermediate drawing course that has a prerequisite of a satisfactory completion of Art or equivalent Middle School Art portfolio. Students will explore and refine their use of various drawing media through a variety of subject matters including still life, portraits, photorealism, landscapes, and illustrations. Each student will keep an ongoing digital sketchbook, participate in critiques, and research artists and style of art. Students will learn and apply the principles and elements of design to their works of art. Students will build upon their skills and move towards creating meaning in their work as the year progresses

Prerequisite: Art or Satisfactory Portfolio Review

ADVANCED DRAWING HONORS

This is an advanced drawing course that has a prerequisite of a satisfactory completion of Drawing. The art student continues exploring art issues in drawing to a greater depth, and continues work in the areas of art criticism and art history, in addition to their advanced studio work. Students work more independently but closely with the art teacher. Students read art journals, art newspapers, attend art exhibits, maintain a sketchbook, and research artists and art movements as they apply to their own work. Students exhibit their work and create and update their portfolios.
