VISUAL ARTS IB HL 1
Visual Arts IB HL 1 is a yearlong course. Students enrolled in this course will investigate past, present, and emerging forms of Visual Arts. Students will produce, evaluate, and develop an understanding of the visual arts from a local, national, and international perspective. Students will produce a minimum of 100 pages in a Visual Art Journal to support, inform, develop, and refine studio work through sustained contextual and visual critical investigation. The Visual Art Journal is integral to studio practice and should reflect the student’s critical visual and written investigation. Students are required to complete a portfolio of work throughout the year with a focus on investigating a variety of subject matter and processes. Some of this work could be used in and toward final HL2 Exhibition (EX) task. Curation and critique will be a focus in preparation for the HL 2. The compiled information accumulated in their Visual Art Journal (VAJ) will be the integral evidence to support their Process Portfolio (PP), Comparative Study (CS) and Exhibition (EX) components which will culminate in its final development and formally assessed both internally and externally in year two, semester two of Visual Arts IB HL 2.
