PAINTING
This is an intermediate painting course that covers watercolor, acrylic and mixed media techniques. The student learns the use and care of materials, experiments with color mixing, value and intensity. Each student spends time practicing various techniques and developing drawing skills in their process work. Projects include research into artists and art movements. Students participate in art critiques, write and speak about art. Opportunity for exhibition of artwork is given to students during Semester 2 at annual Spring Art Show.

ADVANCED PAINTING HONORS
This is an advanced painting honors course that requires a satisfactory completion of Painting. The student continues exploring painting media and issues but in more depth. There is an emphasis on integrating new techniques such as printmaking and mixed media. Individual creative process and development of personal style and direction, independent thinking, and art philosophical inquiry relating to the individual works is emphasized. Each student researches artists and art styles as they apply to the direction of the assignments. Students participate in art as they apply to the direction of the assignments. Students participate in art critiques, write and speak about the art throughout the course. Opportunity for exhibition of artwork is given to students during Semester 2 at annual Spring Art Show.
