Given the continuing impact of COVID-19 on the educational environment, the NCAA Eligibility Center has partnered with the NCAA membership to identify the following changes to the initial-eligibility certification process for students who initially enroll full time in a collegiate institution during the 2021-22 academic year. The Eligibility Center will continue to monitor the environment and make necessary adjustments to prioritize health, safety and fairness for all prospective student-athletes.

RECRUITING SUPPORT
SMCHS Recruiting support program
Santa Margarita Catholic High School is the only high school in Orange County, and one of two in Southern California, that offers a full range of support to ALL student-athletes who wish to compete in collegiate sports.
The point person for the program is Mike Hiserman, former Sports Editor of the Los Angeles Times, who is the Associate Director of College Relations (and a baseball coach) at SMCHS. Mr. Hiserman works with the students, their families, and Eagles coaches with the goal of finding the best college fit.
Santa Margarita has a long history of sending elite athletes with strong academic resumes to the nation's best colleges. This program is designed to build on that reputation and help ANY SMCHS athlete who wishes to continue competing to find an appropriate academic-athletic match- be it at the NCAA Division 1, 2, or 3 levels, NAIA, or Junior College.
The Recruiting Support Program offers research guidance, in-person communication/ coaching, digital coaching (best practices for outreach), on-call advisory assistance and access to the SportsRecruits digital recruiting platform- a tool that enables our student-athlete to:
- Easily and efficiently research schools by area of study, geography size, cost, level of competition and other factors.
- Build a priority list of "target" schools that are proper fits.
- Build a profile that includes measurables, photos, unlimited video, social media and transcripts.
- Communicate directly with college coaches by personal email.
- Receive notifications when a college coach opens an email, views a profile, watches a video or otherwise connects with a student-athletes outreach.
