The Counseling Department is excited to begin the course selection process for the 2021-2022 school year. All students must first visit the SMCHS Scheduling Webpage for information and resources to help make initial course selections. Follow all the steps listed on the website. Once your counselor receives your scheduling form, you will hear from them on any necessary next steps. If you have questions about your classes for next year, please include them within the form's comments section. Your counselor will make sure to address every question you ask in the most efficient way possible, and parents will have an opportunity to view the course requests after spring break before final selections are made.
Classes are not finalized until the end of the school year, as many courses have grade prerequisites for classes you are currently enrolled in. There is no advantage for a student meeting with their counselor before another student this spring. We ask for your patience as our counselors make sure to answer all of your questions. Counselors will then input your course requests into the system, giving you every opportunity to enroll in your preferred courses for the next school year.
It is important that you fill out the scheduling form in its entirety and that you return the form no later than Friday, February 26. Please be very thoughtful on the electives you are choosing and give your counselor first, second and third choice options. We do our very best to get you into your first choice elective, but we do need to look at alternatives for varying reasons from time to time. Do not choose an elective based on a teacher or your friend's experience. Choose classes you are most interested in. We are excited to offer you a wide variety of courses including a number of new electives for next school year.
