1636A ASB LEADERSHIP

This is a year long course designed for elected and appointed officers of the Associated Student Body (ASB). Students will learn key leadership skills directly applicable in a business organization and democratic government. Time will be spent teaching the rudiments of parliamentary procedure, efficient committee organization, and effective group action and interaction. ASB will be responsible for coordinating, organizing, and executing various student activities, both on and away from campus. Students will better understand how to communicate, weigh decisions, and think “outside the box” while learning what it means to be a leader and the responsibility it entails.

Open to grade: 9-12
Prerequisites: Elected and appointed ASB officers (Executive officers, Class officers, Commissioners or Activities Director recommendation.

1636C ADVANCED LEADERSHIP HONORS

This is a yearlong course designed for elected and appointed officers of the Associated Student Body (ASB). This is a project-based class where students gain leadership based skills. The course is aimed at increasing students’ leadership skills and governmental structure which has a direct impact on school pride, spirit, and culture. Students will plan and execute numerous events for their school and will learn how to effect change in their school and communities. Students will read and study about the nature of leadership and the different styles of leadership. Students will write frequently, critically, reflectively, persuasively, and present the issues that arise when planning events for their school and community.

Open to grade: 10-12
