for incoming 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.

Photo Fun

Have fun and learn the basics of photography or enhance your photographic skills in this 3-week course. 6th to 8th graders! Develop your photographic "eye" and put together a photo essay or photography portfolio during this course while learning the techniques that separate the amateur from the professional. Photographers may use a digital camera or a phone with a good quality camera. We will explore the surrounding area for images and subject matter.

Acoustic Guitar: Basics and Beyond

Pick up your acoustic guitar and get yourself over to summer acoustic guitar basics and beyond. This class is perfect for beginners and intermediate players who want to gain some confidence with a new instrument or improve technique. Our focus will combine music theory and playing classic rock songs by The Beatles and folk icons. Triads, scales, chord progressions, fingerpicking, and understanding the fretboard. Note reading not required—supplying your own acoustic guitar is required.  Open to middle/high school students (6th-12th graders).

ENGLISH

Intro to U.S. Government

This course is designed to be an introduction to American government, its historical foundations, institutions, and political processes. We will cover the ideologies that are the foundation to our country, as we discuss the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the branches of government. This class will provide the knowledge that will set students up for success in high school.

Intro to Spanish

Introduction to Spanish for all incoming 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This is an introduction to Spanish for 6th- 8th graders, especially for incoming 8th graders who have never taken Spanish before. This class will provide a foundation for those who are newer to the Spanish language. This will allow you to get a glimpse and prepare you for first semester Spanish 1 as a freshman.

Catholic 101

From Rosaries to fancy hats, lets learn the faith.

Catholic? Want to be? Learn why we do all the things we do. You will learn about the Mass as well as the core principles of Christianity. For 6th to 8th graders. This course is open to Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

Groovy Grammer

Improve your writing for all your classes through enhanced use of grammar practiced in this course.

6th and 8th grade students. Now's the time to prepare for high school writing by putting a great grasp of grammar in your set of school skills. We will cover the aspects of grammar that can quickly improve your writing and can make your high school years much easier for you.

Character Design

This is an introductory course to teach the young artist how to draw characters for books, games, animation, manga, comics and more. This Drawing course will cover the core fundamentals and advanced techniques to drawing characters well — initially with pencils and paper before moving to our new computer lab for digital painting. If you are an absolute beginner or are already at an intermediate level, the course will advance your current drawing ability through introduction to professional techniques.
