Did you know that we live in a biodiversity hotspot? Session 1 of this field ecology exploration will examine human effects on local biodiversity and conservation methods. We will learn how ecologists quantify biodiversity and brainstorm realistic ways to reduce your impact. Session 2 will focus on land and water use and pollution, including harmful chemicals we introduce to our environment and the effects those have on our local ecosystem (and humans, alike!).

Session 1: Biodiversity and Conservation - A (mostly) outdoor course that will explore the effects of human interaction on our local biodiversity.

Ages: 8th – 12th grade
Location: Outdoors on SMCHS campus and lab room 

Please dress comfortably for the outdoors and bring water and snacks. Closed-toed shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, hats, etc.

Get ready for an EPIC adventure! Every day, you'll design and build your very own BATTLE BOT and challenge your camp buddies in awesome robot showdowns! But that’s not all—you’ll also become a 3D design wizard using CAD (cool computer-aided design skills) to create your very own custom gadgets. And the best part? You’ll 3D print your creation every day and take it home as a trophy of your genius!  Let’s build, battle, and have a blast! 

*Participants should plan to bring a smart pad (such as an iPad) or smartphone with the ‘CIRCUIT CUBES’ app already installed, in order to operate the battle bot*

Take a break from watching movies and television and start making movies and television segments. Join us for three days this summer, and you'll get to make a short movie and help create one of our daily ETV shows. Have fun, meet friends, and take home some videos to show your family.

Open to Class of 2031-2033.

The Esports Summer Camp is an eight-day course that will immerse students in the fundamentals of competitive Esports, including many popular video game titles that are played on the high school and collegiate level. Students will not only learn about the dynamics of individual games, but they will also learn about the discipline and attitude necessary to be part of a team. Students will also learn what career and collegiate paths are available for talented esport competitors. Targeted for rising 7th – 9th graders (please note: due to technical issues, rising 9th graders should select 8th for "student grade in the fall" on the registration form). The summer camp will take place in our Esports room in S129 (behind the ETV studio).

SESSION 2 REGISTRATION

In our Talon Academy of Performing Arts (TAPA) summer camp, travel into the heart of the woods alongside iconic storybook characters and discover the magic of bringing Into the Woods Jr. to life! Each day is dedicated to rehearsing, where students refine their performance through scene work, choreography, and vocal performance. This session culminates in a fully staged showcase, giving students the opportunity to perform for a live audience and apply their training in a real theatrical production.

Dates: July 6 - July 31
