Resources For Lent

Making Space for Meaningful Prayer This Lent

Prayer is one of the primary ways God Himself has given us to engage in our relationship with Him. This is such a great gift, because no one could  have ever imagined that God would want us to talk to Him like a friend! It makes sense, then, that in a time like Lent we strive to be very intentional with growing in our prayer life, which ultimately means deepening our interaction with God. Lent is the perfect time, to not just add more prayers, but to put aside distractions and open more our hearts so that our prayer time can be more meaningful!

The Spiritual Value of Fasting During Lent

Fasting is our second pillar of Lent. Practiced by Jesus Himself and later referenced by Him multiple times in the Gospels, this age-old practice is known for bringing many powerful results in our spiritual life. When we remove corporal fulfillment—typically in the form of food—it clears the way to a greater spiritual fulfillment. In other words, The "tugs" in our heart for temporal things quiet and the awareness and desires for heavenly things increases. May Lent be a time of practicing some form of fasting in imitation of Christ and for our spiritual benefit!

Almsgiving: Turning Our Attention Outward

Almsgiving is the third pillar of Lent. Almsgiving is the simple, transformative practice of sharing resources—time, money, skills, or kindness—with those in need. More than charity, it’s a deliberate reorientation from self toward community that cultivates empathy, responsibility, and solidarity. When we give thoughtfully and generously, we not only ease another’s burden but also expand our own moral vision, witnessing how small acts of care can reshape lives and restore hope.
