This guide will walk you through all of the steps students need to follow to be ready for the first day of school. Click here for the 30 minute webinar.

Schedules

Schedule explained

Block represents a specific amount of time each day and the period corresponds to your school schedule. You will attend 3-4 classes each day, while virtual. Your teachers will be teaching for a minimum of 25-30 minutes each block with some time remaining in the period for discussion or to begin homework. You may also ask to speak to your counselor toward the end of a class period, once the teacher has finished instruction. Once given permission, you may Teams chat or call your counselor.

Tech Service Center Support

Office 365

All students should now be set up with their Office 365 accounts. This is your home base to access TEAMS, which is where your virtual classes will be posted and how you will contact your counselor with questions or concerns.

Your tablet/computer camera must be ON while virtually attending class and meeting with your counselor.
If your tablet is not working, you may access your Office 365 account from ANY device with internet.

Your Aeries Account

Your Aeries account is where you will find your 2020-2021 schedule. It is the same as the emailed schedule emailed to you.
New students will receive their Aeries credentials in an email from aeriesportal@smhs.org. If you ever forget your Aeries password, just enter your email, then click the Forgot Password link.

Students and parents who wish to monitor academic progress on a regular basis can access Aeries, the official school grading program which allows parents and students to review current graded assignments and test scores online 24 hours a day from any computer. In addition, it allows parents and students to review the official school records for discipline, attendance, and grades at set grading periods. Aeries can be accessed here.

IT Support

Current hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
The best way to get assistance is to put in a work ticket request at home.smhsstudents.org just as if you were at school.
If additional assistance is needed, you can email techcenter@smhs.org. Please include a phone number so that a technician can contact you if necessary.
If your computer is completely down you may bring the device to the Tech Service Center for repair. The Tech Service Center is located in the Library Media Center and operates on school days between 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m

Student Expectations For Virtual Instruction

Virtual Dress Code

During virtual instruction, students must have their tablet cameras turned on while participating in class. Therefore, students need to dress appropriately for school.

Uniforms are not required
Students are expected to look neat, clean and modest
Do not wear clothing that expresses alcohol, racial and/or drug motifs is not permitted.
No crop tops, tank tops, spaghetti strap dresses, miniskirts, tube tops, bare midriffs and backs, oversized and baggy clothing, hats, and sleeveless T-shirts are not permitted.
T-shirts, shorts, and jeans are acceptable. Shorts must have at least a six-inch inseam.
No sleepwear is allowed.

Eagles Nest Campus Store | Your one-stop-shop for uniforms!

Starting Monday, August 17 the Campus Store will be open daily from 7am-3pm. We are no longer appointment only. However, capacity will be limited so customers may have to wait outside. Any new families that would like to purchase uniforms and receive one on one assistance, please call the store at 949.766.6075 to schedule an appointment. Parking & Transportation

Student parking permit: The process of selling permits is still on hold. Once we get a better idea of when our students will be returning to campus, we will start the process. There is no need to communicate your desire for a permit at this time. All eligible seniors who possess a valid drivers license, are guaranteed a spot.

The remainder of permits will be issued to juniors through a lottery. All juniors will be in the lottery. The list of selected juniors will be published once a return to campus date is established.

Bus Transportation: Visit the bus transportation webpage for more information. Bus transportation will resume with on-campus instruction. More information to follow.

Carpool: A Facebook Carpool group was created to help SMCHS families connect with each other for carpooling opportunities. Please click here to join the group.

Virtual Back-to-School Night: August 26: Parents will have the opportunity to meet their student's teacher virtually through Microsoft TEAMS and experience the online instruction that their student will be receiving with the new virtual schedule.

Contacting Your Counselor

How to Contact Your Counselor During Remote Learning: In the past, we have mainly used school email as the online mode of communication with our students. SM is asking that communication between students and teachers/counselors take place in Teams. You may Teams chat or Teams call us anytime during school hours. We will try our very best to be available and responsive. SM is also asking students to be available via Teams during school hours (Monday-Friday), unless, of course, you are in the middle of class. Your counselor will send you a Teams chat if there is something needs to be discussed. A virtual meeting may be scheduled at the convenience of both the student and counselor.

Mothers Club: Founded in 1988, the Mothers Club was formed to promote and develop social relationships among current and alumni mothers of SMCHS. We support each other, engage in new friendships and enrich the lives of our children. The Mothers Club mission is not one of fundraising, but of raising fun! Summer Assignments

Books

Click here to purchase books and make sure to have your SMCHS network credentials ready to log in. We are working closely with Follett, our book provider, to ensure books are delivered on time as they navigate their own process in managing Covid-19 restrictions. Teachers will be made aware of any issues with materials being back ordered and we will adjust accordingly.
