Volunteers

Blue and Gold is our main fundraising event of the year held the fall. If you would like to join the planning committee or volunteer to help the night of the event, please click here to e-mail the Advancement Office.

The list is varied, but one thing is certain, our volunteers are cherished and appreciated (and make some great friends along the way). Volunteers are needed in the following areas:

• Communications Office
• Library
• Campus Ministry
• Docents - docents are our school ambassadors, providing campus tours for prospective families
• Create artwork, decorations, posters
• Assemble mailers
• Fundraising Gala Committee
• IB/AP Test Supervision (Proctors)
• Photography
• Videography
• Arts Alliance assistants
• Drivers for Sports Teams/Clubs/Extra Curricular
• Athletic Team Support

Freshman, Sophomore and Junior retreats are held at Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center located at 2 Irvine Park Road in Orange, CA. (714) 923-3191. Senior Kairos Retreats are held at Whispering Winds Catholic Retreat Center located at 17606 Harrison Park Road Julian, CA (760) 765-1600. Volunteers are needed to chaperone Christian Service day field trips. For information, contact Campus Ministry at 949-766-6046.

Parent Volunteer Clearance Process (can take up to two weeks to complete)

*Go to FORMS section for all forms needed.

1. Complete the PARENT & ALUMNI VOLUNTEER FORM (required every school year)
    
2. Complete the SAFE ENVIRONMENT TRAINING
   (required every three years)

   • Complete the online training, print the Certificate of Completion and submit to Lori Evers at Volunteer@smhs.org 
      
3. Complete FINGERPRINTING through the Diocese of Orange (required only once)
   • Please contact Lori Evers at Volunteer@smhs.org
   • *If you previously fingerprinted for a school in the Diocese of Orange, please indicate which school and your date of birth on the Parent Volunteer Sign Up form and we will transfer your fingerprint records to SMCHS.
      
4. Diocese of Orange Policy Against Sexual Misconduct

   • Click here for the acknowledgement form to sign.  Acknowledge by signing page 1 and submit signed page to Volunteer@smhs.org
      
5. Complete and sign the ADULT HOLD HARMLESS WAIVER & RELEASE FORM
   • Submit all above forms and copies to Volunteer@smhs.org
      
6. If you wish to be a driver, complete the online DEFENSIVE DRIVING TRAINING module entitled Defensive Driving Curriculum (Video Only).
   • Go to online training here:

   • Print the Certificate of Completion
   • We will also need a copy of your driver’s license and a copy of your Declaration Page of your Car Insurance
