PARKING/TrAFFIC FLOW

Please be advised that driving and parking at SMCHS is a privilege, not a right. Parking on campus is provided for student convenience and is not a requirement nor guaranteed. Parking on campus is always at your own risk.

All vehicles that drive on to campus or parked at/near an SMCHS event are subject to search.
SMCHS parking permits are required for cars, trucks, motorcycles, electric bikes and electric scooters.
All student drivers using a motorized vehicle (automobile, electric bike, electric scooter) to commute to campus must register that vehicle with SMCHS Security.
All student drivers must complete an acknowledgment form to show a basic and full understanding of the SMCHS Student Driving and Parking policy's expectations.

Traffic Flow:

We would like to inform you of an important update to our morning traffic procedures, effective August 12, 2025:

Back Lot Access – Permit Only
The SMCHS Back Lot, located at the corner of Dove Canyon Drive and Plano Trabuco Road, will be restricted to permitted vehicles only during morning drop-off hours. Access will require one of the following valid permits to be clearly displayed:

SMCHS Back Lot Student Parking Permit
SMCHS GoKid/Carpool Permit
SMCHS Back Lot Employee Parking Permit

Front Lot – General Drop-Off
All other vehicles should use the SMCHS Front Parking Lot, located on Antonio Parkway near the athletic fields, for morning drop-off. Please click here for parking and traffic flow maps.

Afternoon Pick-Up
Both the front and back Lots will remain open for general use during afternoon pick-up. If you have any questions or require assistance, please contact parking@smhs.org

Off Campus Parking:

Those students that do not have an on-campus parking permit and plan on driving to campus, should park on Dove Canyon Drive, which is located just off of Plano Trabuco, on the backside of campus. All students parking off campus are required to register with SMCHS Security and get a free SMCHS Dove Canyon Drive parking permit. DCD parking permits will be distributed at the Strader Grotto near the lunch shelter. Parking on either side of DCD is fine, but please pay attention to the “no parking” area on the downside of DCD. Street sweeping on DCD is completed during the p.m. hours. DO NOT park in the residential areas adjacent to campus. 

On Campus Parking:

Priority Parking

Priority parking permit sales will begin Monday, July 7 at 12:00 p.m. – July 15 at 12:00 p.m.

Students with a valid driver’s license will be given the option to select a parking permit for a front lot space or a parking permit for a back lot space when they make their purchase. The 2025-2026 Parking Permit Application link will be sent to eligible students via their SMCHS student email address the morning of Monday, July 7. Parking permits are limited to (1) per eligible student.

The parking application and payment will be emailed to students who meet the criteria at their SMCHS student email. You will be asked to provide specific information and pay for the permit with a credit card. Parking permits for students with an ASB Card are $175 and parking permits for students without an ASB Card are $225. To receive the discount, please use the same account for both the ASB Card and the Parking Permit.

Before purchasing your permit, please make sure you are eligible to purchase a parking permit. Permits purchased prior to eligibility will not be issued or refunded. If you do not have a valid license, we cannot hold a spot for you. When you get your license, please stop by the Welcome Center at the front of campus to check availability.

Junior Parking

Junior parking permits will start on Monday, July 28 at 12:00 p.m. – August 5 at 12:00 p.m.

The parking application and payment will be emailed to students at their SMCHS student email. You will be asked to provide specific information and pay for the permit with a credit card. Parking permits for students with an ASB Card are $175 and parking permits for students without an ASB Card are $225. To receive the discount, please use the same account for both the ASB Card and the Parking Permit.

Parking permits for junior students are based on the number of remaining spots after senior parking permit sales have concluded. There will be a random drawing for junior parking permits. Available permits will be sold in the order in which names were drawn. Juniors will be contacted via their school email as spots become available. There is no need to contact the school requesting a permit or a specific lot.

Senior Parking

Senior parking permit sales will begin Wednesday, July 16 at 12:00 p.m. – July 24 at 12:00 p.m.

Seniors with a valid driver’s license will be given the option to select a parking permit for a front lot space or a parking permit for a back lot space when they make their purchase. The 2025-2026 Parking Permit Application link will be sent to senior students via their SMCHS student email address the morning of Wednesday, July 16. Parking permits are limited to (1) per eligible student.

Low-Emissions Permits

Students who qualify for and want a low-emission permit  must specify on the application. Low-emission permits will be issued to those who qualify based on availability. There may be more requests for low-emission than spots available, parking on school days will be on a first-come basis. If all the LE spots are full on a particular day, the students will have to park in a regular spot. Click here to see if your vehicle qualifies for a preferred low-emission permit.

NOTICE: On-Campus parking for 2025-2026 has reached capacity. Parking permits for Dove Canyon Drive are available at no cost from the Welcome Center beginning August 7th.

PRIORITY Parking Permit Sales:
Monday, July 7 at 12:00 p.m. – Tuesday, July 15 at 12:00 p.m.

SENIOR Parking Permit Sales:
Wednesday, July 16 at 12:00 p.m. – Thursday, July 24 at 12:00 p.m.

JUNIOR Parking Permit Sales:
Monday, July 28 at 12:00 p.m. – Tuesday, August 5 at 12:00 p.m.

Parking Permit Pickup
Thursday, August 7 – Friday, August 8 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Grotto.

Parking Disturbution:

Qualifying juniors and seniors who purchase a parking permit will be able to pick up their parking permits Thursday, August 7 – Friday, August 8 during their designated student orientation time.

Parking permits will be distributed at the Strader Grotto near the Lunch Shelter. Students who purchased the parking permit must come with their driver's license and receipt (e-ticket). All students must complete an SMCHS Parking Acknowledgement form before receiving their permit. The SMCHS Parking Acknowledgement form demonstrates a full understanding of SMCHS Driving/Parking policy. Only the student who purchased the parking permit is eligible to pick up the permit. If a student cannot pick up their permit themselves, an adult may pick up the permit if they have the parking permit receipt (e-ticket), acknowledgement confirmation, and a copy of the student’s valid driver's license.

Seniors and juniors unable to pick up their parking permits during the designated time (August 7 - August 8) must make other arrangements by emailing parking@smhs.org.
